Description
The SAMI process incorporates
a high quality asphalt with selected aggregate
that exhibits
excellent performance on all types of pavements.
This process dissipates crack forces, waterproofs
existing structure, and provides a superior
mat for hot mix asphalt concrete placement.

Asphalt surface is rigidly affixed to
SAMI surface
- Leading edge of crack moves by expansion
and contraction
- High quality polymer asphalt allows horizontal
movement of the old surface
- Old crack movement or stress
is absorbed by the polymer asphalt
and aggregate. The SAMI
allows a slip plane
or pendulum effect.
The SAMI System is designed to improve two
basic problems as they relate to the performance
of pavements constructed or resurfaced with
asphalt mix.
- Reduced reflective cracking
- Improved bonding to old surface (stopping
delamination)
